Custom text shortcuts is a common feature when it comes with desktop word processing softwares, apps and email clients. However, not many people are aware that most Android keyboards come with the option to add custom keyboard shortcuts as well.

For those who don’t know, custom text shortcuts allow users to type long phrases, commonly used words, etc. with just a text shortcut. Which means, you’ll need to key in that shortcut and it will be replaced with the complete phrase or sentence automatically. For example, you can create text shortcuts for your phone number, email address, home or office address, etc.

Here’s how you can create custom text shortcuts on your Android smartphone.

But, before moving on with the steps, it is important to note that the text shortcuts feature depends upon the default keyboard of your device. However, most smartphone brands, including OnePlus, Oppo, Realme, and Nothing, use Google Gboard as the default keyboard on their smartphones.
