Samsung Electronics has taken another step forward in the race to perfect the folding smartphone.
The South Korean tech giant has just unveiled the fourth generation of its Galaxy Z Flip and Galaxy Z Fold.
They’re slimmer, lighter and priced in the same range as the last models.

“The most durable and most powerful Galaxy foldables yet.”
This is how Samsung Electronics described its latest fourth-generation Galaxy folding smartphones at its annual “Unpacked” event on Thursday,woo-ing buyers from around the world.
A representative says, its new offerings will push foldables, from their current position in a niche part of the smartphone market, to being a mainstream hit.

“Last year alone, almost 10 million people opened up foldables. The market growth has tripled. Just three years ago, this category did not even exist. Now we are pushing into the mainstream.”

“Users of the latest Galaxy Z Flip4, a small square that opens up like a shell to reveal a 6.7-inch screen, will be able to make calls and reply to texts without needing to open the phone.”

It also brings higher quality photos and videos with upgraded cameras and a sensor that is 65 percent more effective than its predecessor.
On top of that, it comes with a bigger battery and super fast charging, 50 percent charge takes just 30 minutes and the device has become even slimmer.

“It has more solid modeling, a smaller hinge and bolder camera housing compared to previous models, and it has an aesthetic contrast between the matte back glass and the glossier metal frame, which makes it especially stylish.”

Another highlight of the Unpacked event, the new Galaxy Z Fold 4, a tablet-like smartphone that opens like a book, which is also lighter and has a slimmer hinge.
It comes with a 45 percent more durable main display, upgraded cameras both front and back.

With all these new features and despite soaring costs of production and shipping, Samsung has managed to keep prices at the same levels as last year.
Retail prices start at 999 U.S. dollars for the Galaxy Z Flip four and 1,799 dollars for the Galaxy Z Fold four.
But an expert says, other competitors are also coming into the foldable market.

“Xiaomi and Motorola. These Chinese companies have also unpacked foldable phones this week. But until now they were not successful in the global market. But I can say that foldable phones becoming popular, and so they will come to the battle I think it’s good news for Samsung because Samsung is still dominating the market now.
