Microsoft has announced the launch of Outlook Lite in select markets. As the name suggests, it is the ‘lite’ version of the main app, designed for budget smartphones. It means phones with low RAM and storage configurations can run the lite app, though it might miss some features that the main app includes. Microsoft says the app even works with Android smartphones with 1GB of RAM. Users must note that the app is not available on iPhones, like the lite version of several apps such as Facebook Lite and Instagram Lite.
The app could benefit a host of users as many office and enterprise customers either go for Microsoft or Google’s services. Currently, the lite app is available in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, India, Mexico, Peru, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, and Venezuela. Microsoft says it will roll out in other markets later. In terms of features:

–Outlook Lite app is about 5MB in download size and uses extremely low storage on your phone.
–It is optimised to run fast on all Android devices, including devices with 1GB RAM.

–Outlook Lite works with all networks, including 2G and 3G networks worldwide.
In terms of design, Outlook Lite looks almost the same as the main Outlook app for Android and iOS. It gives direct access to email and calendar at the bottom tray, alongside people. The search and mail filter buttons have been pushed to the top left. Users with the lite app can sign in with their Hotmail, Live, MSN, Microsoft 365, and Microsoft Exchange Online accounts.
Microsoft says the Outlook Lite will empower users who are on lightweight mobile devices across the world.
