Following Google’s announcement of the Android 13 OS only two weeks ago, Samsung has begun beta testing their version of the OS, with a new leak suggesting it will be fully released in October.

One UI 5.0, Samsung’s Android 13 skin, will be officially released on either October 17th or October 19th according to a leak by @RoderSuper on Twitter.

As beta testing for One UI 5.0 began a couple of weeks ago, this gives Samsung roughly two months to iron out the kinks, meaning a mid-October launch does seem likely. Samsung however has not announced an official date for the launch, so this is currently just a rumour.

The leak also says that the OS will initially roll out on the Galaxy S22, S22+ and S22 Ultra range, with no word of the company’s new foldables getting the OS at launch. As the beta test is only available on these devices, this would make sense.

One UI 5.0 is expected to bring a range of new customizability features, as well as additions to accessibility and security. Users will be able to set a colour theme from 16 different presets based on their wallpaper, whilst widgets will be able to be stacked for additional home screen space.
